Infrared Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging uses an infrared camera to detect temperature differences across surfaces — revealing conditions that are invisible to the naked eye. Jon is professionally trained and certified in building science thermography, and includes thermal imaging as a supplemental diagnostic tool on applicable inspections.

What Thermal Imaging Can Reveal

Moisture intrusion

Temperature patterns may indicate moisture behind walls, under flooring, or in ceilings — often before visible damage appears.

Insulation deficiencies

Missing, settled, or improperly installed insulation shows as thermal bridging or cold spots in exterior walls and ceilings.

Air leakage

Gaps in the building envelope allow conditioned air to escape and outside air to infiltrate — thermal imaging can help locate these pathways.

Electrical overheating

Overloaded circuits, failing connections, and overheating components can appear as hot spots in electrical panels and outlets.

Infrared imaging is a supplemental inspection tool. Thermal anomalies are not, by themselves, confirmation of moisture, defects, or concealed damage. Findings are reported as conditions warranting further investigation.
